John
J. Duffy John J. Duffy makes
no secret of his love of the courtroom. A graduate of LaSalle University
and the Villanova University School of Law, he was admitted to practice
on November 19, 1962. Since that time he has tried hundreds of criminal
cases in state and federal courts across the country, and has been
widely recognized as the best criminal trial lawyer in Chester County.
His trial experience runs the gamut of state and federal criminal
prosecutions, spanning capital homicide cases, public corruption cases
(such as ABSCAM and the Pennsylvania
Lottery Fix), and complex drug and white collar conspiracy cases. He
enjoys an
AV Martindale rating.
Outside the courtroom, he is a founding governor and Board Member of
Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers (an
assistance program which offers confidential help to lawyers, judges,
and their family members). He has a long, proud history of service to
The
Caron Foundation, a nationally recognized, non-profit addiction, and
chemical dependency treatment center providing services for both adults
and adolescents. A Foundation Board member for over 29 years, John has
served on its Executive Committee for over 25 years and was twice
elected Chairman of the Board. In 1998, he was named the first recipient
of the Richard J. Caron Foundation Outstanding Alumni Award, and in
July, 2007, he was again honored when the Caron Foundation named him
Chairman Emeritus. In 1994, then Governor Robert P. Casey appointed John
to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, where he
has served with distinction. Clean and sober for more than 34 years,
John’s avocation consists in extending a helping hand to those who
suffer from alcoholism or other substance abuse.
John has been a frequent lecturer and panelist in professional
educational and leadership programs, on behalf of and as a member of The
National and Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the
American and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, and the American and
Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association.
